A bushfire continues to burn in Deepwater, Queensland, with fire authorities urging residents of Deepwater, Baffle Creek and Rules Beach to monitor the latest warnings regularly.
According to Queensland Fire Department information published through ABC Emergency, the fire is burning in the Deepwater area and may continue for several days. On Sunday, 11 October, the warning for parts of the area reached Watch and Act / Stay Prepared at one point, meaning people needed to be ready to leave quickly if the fire approached.
The warning was later changed to Advice / Stay Informed. Sunday’s warning should therefore not be treated as the current danger level without checking the latest official information.
ABC also reported on Monday that the Queensland Fire Department had urged Agnes Water residents to monitor the fire. Firefighters have conducted controlled burning operations to help contain the blaze.
Residents have been asked to check warnings regularly and decide in advance what they will do if the fire approaches their homes. Thick smoke can also pose a risk to people with respiratory conditions.
Anyone in immediate danger should call Triple Zero (000).
